I would strongly suggest making a backup & then getting a new hard drive. Noise is never a good sign.

yeah, if it makes a "Kachunk, Kachunk" sound then its going to die. Its ussally the controller (on the hard drive) that fails.

Restart your computer After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually; Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear; Select the option to run Safe Mode with Networking, then press "Enter". Choose your usual account. Download Hijack This, then Malwarebytes and update MWB. Restart in normal, run them and post their logs if possible. __________________ PC Repair Experts

Hijack this should be downloaded from here, as there are non-legit version out there that install spyware. As well, please be sure to research everything that Hijack this finds, as some of the services being launched are vital for your computer. Be 100% certain before you remove anything.

Re:
If that does not work, use System Restore to revert the computer to an earlier date, it does not always work since some infections disable it.

...he's getting noise from the Hard Drive. How would system restore help that? Chances are it's mechanical failure :D

For me, I will back up the data to the other drive. Then boot to DOS using the windows installation CD and run the chkdsk /r to see if there is any error on the HDD or the bad sectors on the disk. Sometimes, the scan result maybe alright, and the sound is caused by the failing control arm or the power management in the HDD. So back up the data is a more safe to you. Hope you find this helpful!
